Dante

Created by Blake Edwards, Dick Powell originated the role of Nightclub owner Willie Dante in several episodes of “Four Star Playhouse” from 1952-1956. The series co-stars Regis Toomey as Lt. Manny Waldo.

"Four Star Television" decided to "spin off" the character into a series, starring Howard Duff.  (1960-1961 TV series.)

The story of Willie Dante, a former gambler-turned owner of the San Francisco-based nightclub "Dante's Inferno". Dante takes his  shady history, and old-time buddies Biff and Stewart, into the operation of his legit nightclub, but neither the cops nor the bad guys really believe
he's done with the underworld however.
